ARUN AND THE SOFA

Arun arrived at the studio in the morning for his photo session and found me and a friend attempting to unload a beautiful vintage sofa from the back of my van. I had bought the sofa that morning from FB marketplace with the intention of including it in Arun’s portrait. Arun promptly offered his assistance in moving the sofa from the van, across the street, and up three flights of stairs to the studio, (there is no lift due to the age of the building). Seeing our difficulty, a couple of other tenants at the studio also volunteered to help Arun as they could see that my friend Yvette and I were struggling. After successfully manoeuvring the sofa into the studio, we started brainstorming the images we intended to capture. Yvette kindly brewed us some tea while we took a moment to catch our breath (or rather, while Arun recuperated from all the heavy lifting).

Arun had brought along a variety of outfits and styles, and we collectively decided that the earthy tones of his jacket, trousers, and top would complement the red hues of the new/old sofa beautifully.
