FAUZIA // WHITE HAIR DON’T CARE
I had the pleasure of meeting Fauzia (also known as Mrs. T) when she travelled from Manchester for her photo shoot at my studio. It comes as no surprise that modelling agencies have shown interest in her, given her flawless skin and striking white hair. Leading up to Fauzia’s shoot, we had decided on a few vibrant outfits to enhance her appearance. My aim was to achieve images with a minimalistic fashion style. I had envisioned using a dark green backdrop that I had recently bought. On the morning of the shoot, I realized that the 10m seamless paper roll needed to be transported, but it wouldn’t fit in my Mini. I had to use a handsaw to cut it down to size, which required considerable effort!

Throughout our time together, Fauzia shared her hair journey, explaining how she chose to stop dyeing it during the Covid lockdown, allowing her natural hair colour to shine through. She mentioned that since making this decision, she has connected with numerous women who have also embraced their white hair. They have formed a community known as #silversisters and frequently gather for coffee and outings.
Fauzia wears custom-made traditional pieces from India. We explored ways to introduce movement into the images, aiming to evoke a sense of drama.
